McMurray, PA- On Saturday April 27, 2013, representative from South Hills Chrysler Jeep partnered with parents and teachers for a Drive for the KidsTM Fundraiser to help raise money in support of Central Christian Academy in Houston PA.

Parents and guests attending a fundraising auction had the opportunity to earn a $10 contribution for the school from the Chrysler brand by taking a test drive in either the award-winning 2013 Chrysler Town & Country minivan or the stylish Chrysler 200 S edition. All licensed drivers over the age of 18 were eligible to participate. There was no limit to the number of drives. Staff from South Hills Chrysler Jeep volunteered their time to answer questions and provide support for the event.

At the conclusion of the evening, 103 test drives were completed earning the school $1,030. “We really enjoy working with Central Christian Academy and Chrysler to be a part of this wonderful event,” said Kate Schoedel of South Hills Chrysler Jeep. “We are always excited to showcase our vehicles, but the real treat is the money earned for the school.” This is the second year that South Hills, Chrysler, and Central Christian have teamed up for this event, both years topping 100 test drives.

In 1993, Chrysler introduced Drive for the KidsTM and became the first automotive manufacturer to reach out in direct support of local schools. Since then, Chrysler dealers have worked with parent and educators across the nation to contribute nearly $5 million to schools located in communities where Chrysler and its dealers do business. For more information, visit www.drive4kids.com.

Test drive participants were automatically entered into the 2013 Chrysler Sweepstakes for a chance to win a credit in the amount of $45,000, to be used towards the purchase of any eligible Chrysler Group vehicle from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram or FIAT brands. “The fun, funky and functional Kia Soul has been recognized for its many positive attributes since first driving onto the scene back in 2009, and we are pleased to be adding ‘superior pet safety’ to this long list of accolades,” said Michael Sprague , executive vice president, marketing & communications, KMA. “For many, pets are considered members of the family, and they deserve safe and comfortable transportation like the rest of us. Make Way for the Redesigned Chrysler 200

Chrysler 200

Word on the street is that the Chrysler 200 will be getting an update sooner than expected. Rumors have been swirling regarding the 2014 Chrysler 200 and the debut of the new Chrysler 200.

Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has said the introduction of the redesigned 200 model has been postponed until January 2015. This would indicate that the 2014 200 model year will be cut rather short. Production on the 2014 Chrysler 200 is set to begin in July of this year and end in January of 2015. In a typical production year, cars are made from midyear well into the following year.

The short production year makes way for the revamped Chrysler 200’s entrance onto the scene. The new model, which will likely still be called the 200, is anticipated to be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.

The next-generation model will contain a platform that is dually developed by Chrysler and Fiat. The revised model is set to boast numerous new features as well as a new design direction for the brand. One of the key new features in place is the nine-speed automatic transmission. This will be the same transmission as the 2014 Jeep Cherokee.

The new 2015 model is not the only thing getting a little attention. The Sterling Heights, Michigan plant is getting a $1 billion investment. Paint and body shops are being constructed at the plant in preparations for the new model.

Chrysler successfully turned the struggling Sebring into the extremely popular Chrysler 200. South Hills Chrysler Jeep Kia is excited to see what Chrysler has in store for us with the updated 200. For more information about the update, or to test drive the current Chrysler 200 before they are gone, come visit us today!

Kia Gets a Little Help from DreamWorks Animation

How do you promote a new family car? Get a new family movie to help you out! Kia has worked with DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. to come up with a new way to advertise the Kia Carens.

DreamWorks Animation has a new movie coming out called “The Croods,” which is an animated comedy that follows a prehistoric family. The movie opens Friday, March 22, 2013.

Kia CarensKia got together with DreamWorks to come up with an idea called “Meet the Carens.” The two and a half minute clip features DreamWorks’ the Crood family, and shows how a family car, even in the ancient world, would help out. The global marketing campaign for the Carens will feature the clip as a focal point.

The Carens made its debut this past September at the Paris Motor Show. The compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) is designed to allow ample interior space for those families constantly on-the-go without leaving behind a large carbon footprint for families to come. Five and seven passenger versions of the Carens are available.

Kia’s general manager of overseas communications, Scott Woo, said, “We are proud to be partnering with DreamWorks Animation for this campaign. The Croods characters are a perfect fit for our seven-seater Carens, and we believe they can convey the modern family charm of our MPV in a fun and distinctive way.”

Check out the “Meet the Carens” video below! To learn more, come talk to us at South Hills Chrysler Jeep Kia.

Dashboard Warning Lights Made Easy

These days there is a smartphone app for just about anything you could ever want and need – recipes, banking, workouts, weather, and so on. The list now includes engine lights. You heard right! There is now an app to tell you what all those lights on your car dashboard stand for.

Efraim Dabi developed an app called the iEngineCheck. The app has you enter the manufacturer and model of your car, then it gives you a detailed description of the car’s engine and engine warning lights. But wait! There is more.

iEngineCheck AppNot only will the iEngineCheck app tell you what all of those goofy little lights mean, it will also give you a possible explanation on how to fix the problem. Additionally, you can request to have your car added to the app, should your specific car not be on the app, and you can send information you find on the app to others by e-mail or SMS with just the touch of a button.

Gone are the days of researching the library called the owner’s manual to find an answer to your problem. This nifty little app is just 99 cents through the iTunes App Store. It is currently available to Apple products (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and any other iSomething), and an Android version is in the works.

Come tell us, at South Hills Chrysler Jeep Kia, what you think of the app or share any other fun apps you may have come across.
